Useful Books on Understanding Dreams

NOTES

Dreams are frustrating and overwhelming because they are enigmas that we don’t always understand “but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.” Daniel 2:28a

Every person has a unique set of symbolic master keys that unlock the inner depths of their heart.

When interpreting dreams, we must always rely upon hearing Holy Spirit to rightly understand what we are interpreting, no matter how educated we are.--Shane Mason

"Dialoguing in dreams can span a period of minuites, hours, days, weeks, or months. Therefore, it is most important that the dreamer record all his dreams" Dreams and Visions by Dr. Joe Ibojie 2005 Destiny Image page 34

DICTIONARY:

This dictionary is to assist dreamers with a basic vocabulary of symbols. Keep in mind that every dreamer's personal dictionary will differ from person to person as they differ in culture and personal experiences. In today's culture cell phones are used by most people to communicate. A telegraph is a device that was once widely used to receive and transmit messages until the late 1800s when the telephone was invented. A telephone is a universal example that we know as a symbol for communication. Neither of these communication devices are found in the Bible. Before the 1800s you would communicate through letters carried by messengers. Living today in our culture it is more likely that we would dream about using a cell phone than a message being delivered by a messenger on horseback. God uses the terms that we use from our lives and therefore we need to seek God and listen to the Holy Spirit for proper understanding and interpretation.

Just like Jesus expected His disciples 2, 000 years ago to understand metephorical language, today we too are expected to understand metephorical language. Dreams are parables in the night. God spoke to His people thousands of years ago and He still speaks to us today if only we would have ears to hear God speaking directly to us. Job 33:14-18 explains “Indeed God speaks once, Or twice, yet no one notices it. “In a dream, a vision of the night, When sound sleep falls on men, While they slumber in their beds, Then He opens the ears of men, And seals their instruction, That He may turn man aside from his conduct, And keep man from pride; He keeps back his soul from the pit, And his life from passing over into Sheol.”
